Pineapple is a tropical fruit with a really sweet and intense flavour and it's suitable for both sweet and savoury dishes. I'm now going to show you the best way to prepare it.
Choose a pineapple that's not too green, has really healthy leaves and, actually, when you touch it, it's got a bit of give. Lay the pineapple on its side on a large chopping board, hold it steady and, with a sharp knife, remove the base. Hold the pineapple upright by the leaves and slice away the skin from top to bottom. Don't cut too deeply into the fruit as you don't want to waste any of its sweet flesh.
So now you want to remove the eyes of the pineapple really carefully so what you need to do is take a small knife and make a 1cm V-shaped cut either side of the eyes. This will create a spiral of cuts around the pineapple.
Once the eyes have been removed, slice the top of the pineapple and discard the off-cuts. With your large knife cut the pineapple into quarters. Then remove and discard the woody core.
Now I can cut the pineapple into spears and pineapple chunks.
Alright, so that's now ready to eat and that's how you prepare pineapple.
