Award-winning author, food writer and presenter Dina Macki creates eclectic food inspired by her Middle Eastern background with a focus on spice, vibrancy and comfort.


Middle Eastern fusion food with a subtle touch of the West

Born and raised in the UK to an Omani and Zanzibari family, Dina Macki has always been surrounded by an eclectic mix of food. It was during her time at uni when all the years of helping her mother and grandmother in the kitchen paid off: She began cooking for housemates and creating her own cooking style.

Dina’s food is influenced by her Middle Eastern background, inspired by Asian spices, vibrant fresh produce from Iran, home comforts of the Middle East and East Africa along with a subtle touch of the West. Dina’s creations are showcased in her debut award-winning cookbook Bahari and a wealth of recipes here at Tesco Real Food.

From special food for celebrations to everyday eats, Dina’s recipes include a beautiful chicken and spinach curry that’s ideal for Ramadan, pakoras, fatayer and sweet treat Barfi that can be enjoyed during Ramadan and year round.
