Yes, you can create a delicious flapjack in the microwave and it doesn't need to contain butter or oil! This tasty, fruit-packed recipe is ideal for toddlers, suitable for the 12+ months weaning stage*, but kids of all ages will want a square! Ready in just 10 minutes, this is a great speedy snack to add to your weaning recipes. See method

Ingredients

  • 100g porridge oats
  • 1 banana, finely mashed
  • 1 apple (about 120g), unpeeled, grated
  • 1 tbsp finely milled flaxseed
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 100ml whole milk (or your baby’s usual milk)

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients into a 12 x 20cm microwave-proof container and stir together.
  2. Microwave on high for 4-5 mins until it feels firm to the touch. Allow to cool completely in the container, then use a spatula to remove and slice into 12 pieces.

Tip: The flapjacks will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Freezing and defrosting guidelines
