These massive layered Italian deli sandwiches are super-popular on social media. They look incredible when the cross-section reveals the distinct layers of meat, salad, cheese and veggies. Perfect for a lunch treat or to pack on a picnic! See method

Ingredients

  • 1 white baton
  • 3 tbsp Tesco Finest basil pesto
  • ½ iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 4 jarred red peppers, drained and left whole
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 beef tomato, sliced into 5 slices
  • 5 pickled chillies
  • 100g Tesco Finest Italian smoked scamorza mozzarella, sliced into ½ cm rounds
  • 1 x 100g pack Tesco Finest prosciutto cotto
  • 1 x 80g pack Tesco Finest prosciutto crudo with truffle
  • 1 x 78g pack Tesco Finest 14 month genuine Parma ham
  • 3 tbsp garlic mayonnaise
If you don't have red onions, try using white, brown or spring onions

Method

  1. Cut the baton in half lengthways.
  2. Add a layer of fresh pesto on the bottom half of the bread.
  3. Layer on shredded lettuce, jarred red peppers, red onion, tomato, pickled chillies, scamorza mozzarella, prosciutto cotto, prosciutto crudo with truffle and Parma ham.
  4. Add a layer of garlic mayo to the lid of the bread and close the sandwich.
  5. Wrap tightly in parchment paper before slicing in half.
