Serve up these fully loaded hot dogs for an informal get together. They're taken to the next level with beer-infused onions and zingy mustard and red cabbage, all of which pair well with the well-rounded bitter flavour of Staropramen. Dig in! See method

Ingredients

  • 2 brown onions, peeled and cut into 2cm wedges​
  • 1 tbsp olive oil​
  • 150ml Staropramen beer​
  • 8 Tesco Finest Bramley apple sausages
  • 4 Tesco Finest brioche hot dog buns​
  • 4 slices Emmental cheese, cut into halved triangle shapes
  • 80g pickled red cabbage​
  • French's classic yellow mustard, to serve

Method

  1. Heat a large frying pan over a high heat. Add the onions and the oil, and fry for 5-10 mins to brown the onions until slightly caramelised.​ 
  2. Pour over the beer, cook for 1 min and then turn off the heat. The beer will evaporate and leave you with juicy, tasty onions.​ 
  3. Meanwhile, fry the sausages on a grill, barbecue or in a frying pan for 15-20 mins, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through.​ 
  4. Pop the hot dog buns on the grill or in a frying pan for 1-2 mins to heat up, once the sausages are cooked.​ 
  5. Remove and start to layer the hot dog: start with the cheese in the hot bun, then top with the sausages, onions, pickled red cabbage and a good squeeze of mustard. Serve immediately with a large glass of Staropramen.
