Cream 50g butter and 50g caster sugar in a bowl. Beat in 1 egg and fold in 50g self-raising flour. Spoon 3 tbsp golden syrup into a heatproof bowl, then pour the batter on top. Microwave on high for 3-4 mins until risen and golden.
Put a 250g pack plain microwave rice in a heatproof bowl with 250ml milk, 2 tbsp sugar, tsp vanilla extract and a beaten egg. Stir well, then microwave for 5-6 mins, stirring halfway through, until set. Serve with a dollop of jam.
