  • 200g blackberries
  • 350g pears
  • 350g apples
  • 125g butter
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 75g demerara sugar
  • 175g plain flour
  • pinch of cinnamon

Method

The quintessential crumble pudding, this autumnal favourite is made even sweeter with the addition of blackberries. When making the crumble topping, rub everything together quickly and lightly between fingertips to get that rough breadcrumb texture.
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Peel and core the apples and pears and cut them into cubes.
  3. In a pan, melt 25g butter over a low heat and add the apples, pears and caster sugar and cook until soft. Add the blackberries and then transfer the fruit into an ovenproof dish.
  4. In a bowl, add the flour, cinnamon and the remaining butter and using your hands rub it together to form a breadcrumb texture. Add the demerara sugar and repeat. Spoon the crumble mixture over the fruit and bake for 30 minutes.
