  • 100g popcorn kernels
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • 50g pecorino or Parmesan, finely grated

1. Put the popcorn kernels in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Top with a microwaveable lid or plate and microwave (750W) on high for 4-5 mins until the popping has reduced to one pop every 4-5 secs. Carefully partly uncover the bowl to release the steam.

2. Meanwhile, put the pepper and the butter in a small, microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 5-10 secs until melted. Pour over the popcorn and scatter over the cheese. Re-cover and shake to coat well before serving.
