Start the morning with this tasty bowl of Quaker Oats swirled with berry compote and topped with a grating of dark chocolate - all of the delicious flavours of the retro Black Forest pud. See method

Ingredients

  • 200g Quaker Rolled Oats
  • 1ltr semi-skimmed milk (or ½ milk, ½ water)
  • 300g frozen mixed fruit
  • 2 tbsp runny honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 30g dark chocolate, grated, to serve

Method

  1. Tip the porridge oats into a pan and add the milk, along with a pinch of salt. Bring to a simmer and cook gently for 4-6 mins, until the oats are tender and creamy.

  2. Meanwhile, put the berries in a separate pan with the honey and 1 tbsp water. Cook for 4-5 mins, until the fruit is just beginning to break down. Stir the vanilla extract through.

  3. Serve the porridge topped with the compote and finish with grated chocolate.
