Give a warming hot chocolate an adults-only twist with this coconut hot chocolate recipe. Add tropical Malibu to rich homemade chocolate, then pile high with softly whipped cream, toasted coconut and an indulgent drizzle of chocolate sauce. See method

Ingredients

  • 80ml whipping cream
  • 400ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 50g dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 30g soft light brown sugar
  • 100ml Malibu
  • 2 tsp desiccated coconut, toasted
  • 1 tbsp Tesco Finest chocolate sauce, warmed

Method

  1. Whip the cream until soft peaks form. Place the milk, dark chocolate and light brown sugar in a pan and heat gently on the hob, stirring with a whisk until the chocolate has melted. Simmer for 5 mins, stirring occasionally, to ensure well combined. Stir in the Malibu.
  2. Divide the chocolate mixture between 2 heatproof glasses or mugs, and top with a spoonful of the whipped cream. Drizzle over the chocolate sauce and scatter over a little desiccated coconut. Serve immediately.
