A wonderfully festive Christmas breakfast idea; porridge made with cinnamon and nutmeg then topped with a mini gingerbread man, banana, blueberries and chocolate stars. If you want to get the kids involved, set up little bowls with the topping for them to add themselves. See method

Ingredients

  • 50g porridge oats
  • 300ml semi-skimmed milk
  • pinch ground cinnamon, plus extra for sprinkling (optional)
  • pinch ground nutmeg
  • 6 pecan halves
  • ½ small banana, sliced
  • 8 blueberries
  • 2 mini gingerbread men
  • ½ – 1 tsp multi coloured star sprinkles
  • 2 Dr Oetker white giant chocolate stars (optional)

Method

  1. Put the porridge oats and milk into a saucepan over a medium heat, stirring constantly until the porridge thickens. Add the cinnamon and nutmeg and simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring until the oats are cooked. 
  2. Divide between two bowls, top each with the pecan halves, banana slices, blueberries, gingerbread men, and the star sprinkles and giant white chocolate, if using. Sprinkle over a little extra cinnamon, if you like.
