Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4. Grease and base line a 20cm square tin.
Place the syrup, butter and peanut butter in a pan and melt over a low heat until everything is combined.
Add the oats and dates and stir until everything is well coated.
Press the mixture into the prepared tin with the back of a spoon, ensuring its well packed then sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 15 mins.
Once golden, remove from the oven and cut into flapjacks using a sharp knife.
Leave to cool completely in the tin, otherwise the flapjacks will be flaky and fall apart.
It is also possible to use pure sunflower spread to make these flapjacks dairy free.
