Pour the vinegar into a saucepan, add the sugar, bring to the boil, then stir and simmer for 5 minutes or until the sugar has dissolved and the mix is slightly syrupy. Cool.
Slice the cucumber thinly and put in a bowl. Pour the vinegar and dill into the bowl, and mix. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
