Give the spicy cocktail trend a whirl at home with this easy margarita-inspired recipe. You only need one spirit: Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind, which gives the drink its tangy and spicy flavour base. See method

Ingredients

  • 1 lime, zested and juiced (you need 25ml)
  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ice cubes
  • 50ml Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind
  • 25ml agave syrup
  • 1 green chilli, halved, one half thinly sliced (optional)
  • soda water, chilled

Method

  1. Mix the lime zest, chilli flakes and sea salt together on a plate until evenly combined. Run the squeezed lime around the rim of a tumbler and down the front face in a triangle shape, then dip and roll in the lime and chilli salt until evenly coated. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Add the Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind, the 25ml of lime juice, agave syrup, the chilli slices (if using) and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake for 1 min or until the outside of the shaker feels icy cold, then strain into the glass.
  3. Top up with soda water. Garnish with the remaining chilli half to serve, if you like.

Tip You can swap the agave syrup for clear honey. You can also use either fine sea salt or sea salt flakes, depending on your preference.
