Everyone loves a sausage roll at a party buffet, so we’ve given them a simple Halloween spin with these easy 3-ingredient witches’ hats. There’s a handy ingredients list at the bottom of the page for everything you need to make these at your spooktacular Halloween party.
Unroll a 375g pack ready-rolled lighter shortcrust pastry. Halve the pastry lengthways to make two long strips, then cut each strip widthways into four pieces. Cut each square into a triangle and reserve the trimmings.
Divide 150g sausage meat into 8 and roll each piece into a sausage shape. Place each one at the shorter ends of each pastry triangle, allowing it to hang over the edges a little. Roll to just enclose the sausage meat and brush the pastry with egg to seal.
Use the trimmings to make pastry decorations and place on the sausage rolls. Transfer to the fridge to chill for 20 mins. Preheat the oven to gas 5, 200˚C, fan 180˚C.
Brush the witches’ hats with 1 beaten egg and bake for 20-25 mins until golden and crisp.
