This quick and easy bread sauce recipe can be rustled up in just 20 mins. Made with double cream and whole milk, it's beautifully creamy for the perfect festive side dish.

  1. Place all the ingredients into a medium pan. Bring to the boil, then leave to simmer for 15 mins until the onion is soft. Remove the cloves and bay leaf, and season well. 
  2. Using a stick blender, whizz for a smooth sauce – or you can leave as it is if you prefer a more textured finish.
