Fancy an Asian spin on your Christmas canapés? These hoisin lettuce cups will satisfy your needs. Super speedy to make, and with no need to turn the oven on, these vegan-friendly canapés are full of flavour and texture in every bite. See method

  • 400g tin jackfruit
  • 3 tbsp hoisin dipping sauce
  • ½ tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 12 Little Gem lettuce leaves
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 spring onion, very finely sliced
  • 1 red chilli, very finely sliced
  • a pinch of sea salt (optional)

  1. Drain and rinse the tinned jackfruit, then use your hands to gently break it into shreds in a bowl, removing any seeds and tough pieces. Mix in the hoisin dipping sauce, the dark soy sauce and a pinch of salt, if using.

  2. Divide the jackfruit between the Little Gem lettuce leaves and sprinkle over with the sesame seeds. Top with the spring onion and red chilli to serve.
