This smoothie is a great breakfast booster. Inspired by the flavours of carrot cake, our feel-good drink is a great way to start the day. See method

  • 2 Perfectly Imperfect carrots
  • ½ very ripe banana
  • 1 peeled and chopped orange (plus any juice)
  • 20g piece of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tbsp 0% fat natural yogurt

  1. Put 2 carrots in a microwave-proof bowl with 2 tsp water; microwave on high for 4-5 mins until tender. Leave to cool, then put in a high-speed blender with 200ml water, the banana, orange (plus any juice), fresh ginger, ground cinnamon and tbsp natural yogurt.
  2. Blitz until smooth, adding more water if it’s too thick. Serve in a tall glass, dusted with a little cinnamon, with a few ice cubes, if you like.

Clever swap: This also works well as a smoothie bowl topped with extra yogurt, dates, coconut flakes and pecans.
