Warm fruit, cider and festive spices in a pan for the ultimate quick and easy mulled cider to serve at Christmas or whenever you fancy a warming winter tipple. Garnish with cinnamon stick stirrers for a special finishing touch. See method

Ingredients

  • 440ml Tesco Apple Cider
  • 25ml Tesco Quadruple Strength Cherries & Berries Squash
  • 50g Tesco Frozen Pitted Sweet Cherries
  • 50g frozen blackberries
  • 50g golden caster sugar
  • 1 apple, halved, cored and sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick, plus 6 to serve
  • 1 star anise
  • 4 whole cloves

Method

  1. Pour the squash into a large saucepan with 500ml water.
  2. Stir in the cherries, blackberries, golden caster sugar, apple, cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves. Simmer (don’t boil) over a low heat for around 10 mins until the apple starts to soften.
  3. Take off the heat and remove the whole spices. Ladle the mixture into heatproof glasses or mugs to serve and garnish with cinnamon stick stirrers.
