Some of these viral drinks can be super-sweet, but our take on dirty soda features a tangy raspberry syrup that’s incredibly easy to make. You can also swap in grenadine or raspberry cordial if you prefer, but it’s well worth making your own for the best flavour and results. See method

Method

  1. Put the sugar, fresh or frozen raspberries and 50ml water into a saucepan over a medium heat. Cook, for 5-6 mins, stirring occasionally until the raspberries are soft and collapsing into the liquid and the mixture is simmering. Leave to cool completely, then strain into a sterilised* bottle and chill (see tip).
  2. Fill a large glass to the brim with crushed ice. Slowly pour 25ml raspberry cordial into the glass. Add the lemonade, then slowly pour the cream on top.

Tip: This recipe makes more cordial (150ml) than you need for one drink. Store for up to 2 days in the fridge in a sterilised bottle* .

*To sterilise glass jars, wash in hot, soapy water and rinse well. Dry in the oven for 15-20 mins at gas 1, 140°C, fan 120°C until hot and completely dry. Boil metal lids and rubber seals for 10 mins, then leave to dry.
