A Chinese New Year feast calls for light, fluffy steamed rice, and this simple recipe gives you exactly that, tasty sesame seed and coriander long-grain rice. See method

  • 375g long-grain rice
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
  • 4 tbsp chopped coriander
White rice can always be swapped for brown (check cooking instructions for timings)

  1. Put the rice in a pan with 750ml cold water. Bring to the boil then turn down to a simmer, cover, and cook for 12 mins. Remove from the heat and leave to steam for 5-10 mins before fluffing with a fork.
  2. Stir in the sesame seeds and coriander.
  3. Try serving with Marinated cucumber with garlic and chilli, or for a meaty main,Braised sweet and sour spare ribs.
